Mentors & Advisors
The Office of the Provost provides professional development and training opportunities for mentors and advisors across the University of Pittsburgh and at our regional campuses.
We also lead efforts in collaborating with mentors, advisors, and administrators to discuss best practices and share information.

Advising Certification and Training (PITT ACT)
The University of Pittsburgh Advising Certification and Training program (Pitt ACT) is a suite of online onboarding and training materials designed for faculty and staff at Pitt who work with students in an advising and mentoring capacity to help standardize the practice of advising and mentoring across Pitt.
Advisor Toolbox
The Advisor Toolbox provides resources and referral information for undergraduate advisors and students.
Mentoring and Advising Summit
During the provost’s annual Mentoring and Advising Summit, colleagues from across the University gather to explore how we can continue to build a strong culture of diversity in our mentoring and advising work. Read about past and upcoming summits.
Pitt Commons
Pitt Commons is a web portal that allows students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the University to connect and to establish networking and/or mentoring relationships specific to their interests and academic and career goals.
Pitt Mentoring and Advising Community Circles
With the Pitt Mentoring and Advising Community Circles (PMACCs), mentors and advisors across Pitt can build professional networks, communities, and knowledge around a common interest or experience in advising and mentoring undergraduate students. Learn more about these groups and meeting dates.
Provost’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising
This award recognizes Pitt advisors who have engaged students in a collaborative and holistic process of advising by preparing students for lives of impact through educational experiences tailored to their specific goals and needs.
Student Success and Advising Consultation Services
We offer consultation services to departments, colleges, schools, and units across the University in an effort to advocate for collaborative and holistic advising, mentoring, and student success interactions.
University Undergraduate Advising Committee (UUAC)
The University Undergraduate Advising Committee (UUAC) aims to enhance the practice of advising and mentoring at the University of Pittsburgh by sharing ideas, best practices, and information for undergraduate academic advisors and mentors.
